The journey of a lubricant: from the raw material to you

The production process, as shown in the infographic, begins with the raw materials, rigorously selected to ensure the highest quality standards:

• Base oils. They may come directly from the Puertollano refinery or be manufactured externally. In both cases, they are stored in specific tanks. 
• Additives. Additives may arrive in bulk or in drums, and are stored in their respective tanks or in the warehouse, respectively. A type of additive, polymers, is mixed with base oil in the dilution unit (also called a digester) to obtain a viscosity index improver additive.

Once the raw materials are ready, the mixing takes place, also known as blending. The base oils and additives are combined in the mixer according to the corresponding formulations, meticulously developed by our experts.

Afterwards, the lubricant arrives at the intermediate tanks, where it is subject to rigorous quality controls that verify that the viscosity, density, and other key properties comply with the specifications. 

The next step is the packaging, where essential information for use and handling is included. The lubricant is packaged in different formats (1L, 4L, 5L, 20L, 208L, 1,000L), although tanks are also used for storing high turnover products or adapted to special customer requirements. 

Finally, the lubricants are loaded onto trucks for their distribution, whether by containers or in bulk.
